Victor is working on an NLP tagging module which he’s testing today.

Swift Haiti Twitter Tracker: http://appfrica2.com/haiti/

Yesterday I put together what I’m dubbing the SULSa API, Server and Database. That stands for Swift User Location Services Api, which is a way for Ushahidi applications and developers to pull location info using only a users IP address. I saw this as important because currently the Ushahidi Api asks for latitude and longitude of reports as a ‘requirement’ for POST requests. For users who aren’t mapping or reports coming from micro-messaging services and SMS, this is a way of getting location data where it isn’t offered. This will allow us to offer users structured data and should we choose, we could offer data that uses EDXL and PFIF standards for specific tasks.

This databased can be used for any sort of applications or needs we might have. The documentation here will be a running guide – https://docs.google.com/a/ushahidi.com/View?docID=0AXtjM3UhUoCeZGZ0azVwYjdfMGZxY25oamhj&revision=_latest

As far as help with swift, we still need volunteers to take on any of the tasks in github at http://github.com/appfrica/haiti_tracker. Many of the tasks are only 4 or 5 hour jobs so hopefully we can find volunteers willing to just knock them out. We do have a handful of volunteers now contributing as their time permits but there have been few commits so far. Still, we appreciate all the help!
